Characterization of ultrasonic transducers is an essential part of the UT inspection process. The shape and size of the sound beam and the actual center frequency are all critical components of designing the ideal scan plan for any given part.
Periodical transducer tests are also required by different industry standards as well as by the ASTM E1065.
